With just one day to go before Ontario voters head to the polls, Green party leader Mike Schreiner is in the area.
He joined Green party candidate Don Marshall in Owen Sound on Wednesday to announce what Green MPP’s will do to ensure strong farms and healthy local food for all Ontarians.
Schreiner says they want to reduce the regulatory red tape on local food producers and family farmers.
The Greens also plan to provide tax credits for investments in rural infrastructure.
Schreiner says the issue of food and farming has been largely ignored by the provincial leaders of the three major parties — especially in the leaders debate.
He notes the Green Party strongly opposes the proposed Mega Quarry in Melancthon Township because it will destroy prime farm land and threaten the clean drinking water supply.
Schreiner adds since it appears we are headed for a minority government — candidates like Don Marshall will have a lot of leverage at Queen’s Park because every vote is important.
Marshall tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he is thrilled to have Mike Schreiner back his campaign — and hopes it will help sway voters over to the Green Party.
Schreiner is a candidate in Simcoe Grey, and Marshall is the green candidate in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.
