When Natalie McDonald has a birthday party everyone is invited.
The 12 year old is hosting her fourth annual Family Fun Dance at the Hanover Legion.
All proceeds from the event will go to help send children like Natalie to Easter Seals Camp.
Natalie says there is only one rule — no presents allowed.
She says supporting the Easter Seals Camp program through the Family Fun Dance is the best gift she could hope for.
It costs two thousand dollars to send a child like Natalie to Easter Seals Camp for 10 days.
Natalie says it’s well worth it, adding camp is the one place where children like her can be themselves without feeling different.
The inclusiveness of the camp and the chance for a little independence are a big drawing card for kids like Natalie.
Natalie suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disease that attacks the nerve cells in the spinal cord.
Over the last three years, Natalie’s Family Fun Dance Birthday Bash has raised 21 thousand dollars for the Easter Seals Camp.
Admission is 5 dollars for adults, 3 dollars for kids and preschoolers are just a loonie.
The night will include various games, activities, entertainment and of course a chance to kick up your heals with a dance.
Doors open at 5 PM and the event runs until 10 PM.
Natalie’s love of camp can be summed up in a rap she created for Easter Seals.
