Residents in Walkerton are invited to attend a community workshop tonight.
Walkerton residents and business owners are invited to help guide the downtown revitalization effort in Walkerton.
This is a joint effort by the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, the Image Committee and the Spruce the Bruce Team.
Spokesperson Kara Van Myall wants residents to identify what they value about Walkerton and what needs improvement.
She says Walkerton is already off to a good start with the Historic Walkerton downtown theme complete with Victorian colours and lamp posts.
Myall says the goal is to build upon Walkerton’s strengths and uniqueness and improve its weaker areas in order to attract more people to town.
As part of this initiative — business owners can take advantage of the Spruce the Bruce grant program.
Bruce County will match dollar for dollar approved projects that are used to improve Walkerton’s image — for example — signs and marketing ventures.
Myall says other communities like Sauble Beach, Lucknow and Lion’s Head have all embraced the program and are now reaping the benefits.
The workshop complements a survey mailed earlier to Walkerton residents.
This survey is available on line at www.surveymonkey.com/s/WalkertonSurvey.
The workshop begins at 7 PM at Victoria Jubilee Hall.
