Good homes are needed for 48 dogs that were removed from a home on Old Red Bay road near Oliphant in late August.
The dogs have now been released by the owner — and Doctor Jeff Berry at the Southampton Pet Hospital says medical examinations are now done and 27 dogs are ready for adoption.
The dogs are mostly Shih-Tzus or Shih-Tzu crosses with poodle and Papillion.
The dogs were found in a house after several complaints from a neighbour about the howling and the “horrendous” smell coming from the home.
Doctor Berry says the 48 dogs that were seized August 30th were in decent health, but they had been poorly cared for recently and some had minor medical conditions.
Doctor Berry adds the dogs will need their initial vaccines for deworming and revolution, and there is an adoption fee that will cover that, or you can take them to your own vet.
There are also eight puppies that are being housed at the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter in Owen Sound until they are old enough for adoption.
