The new astronomical observatory at the Outdoor Education Centre near Oliphant is now officially open.
A special grand opening was held on Saturday.
But as we told you last month — the 150 thousand dollar observatory has been operational since the middle of July.
John Hlynialuk is the Vice President of the Bluewater Astronomical Society.
He says the observatory will be used by students and the general public.
The observatory has a moveable roof — and it features several telescopes including one large telescope donated by the University of Guelph.
It was paid with private funding.
E.S Fox Construction covered about half of the cost of the project, while the rest of the money was raised by the Astronomical Society.
