The Grey Bruce community is making good use of the 13 Catholic schools in the region.
Over the last year, there were 118 thousand visits by participants during the off school hours — either using classrooms, libraries or gymnasiums.
The vast majority of those visits were made by not for profit and community groups — who were not charged a fee by the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board.
If you tallied up those hours — the fee woiuld have totalled 137 thousand dollars.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton calls it their in-kind donation to their communities.
Colton is pleased the school buildings are receiving so much use.
She adds the numbers are quite impressive — considering the 118 thousand visits account for 11 thousand hours.
Of the 13 schools — St. Anthony’s in Kincardine received the most use with over 42 thousand visits.
Walkerton’s Sacred Heart High was next with 21 thousand visits.
