A 46 year old woman from Owen Sound — who is charged with second degree murder — was remanded in custody on Monday morning after her first court appearance.
Erin Elizabeth Lees was visibly shaken during her video appearance.
Lees will be back in Owen Sound Superior Court on Friday for another bail hearing.
Family and friends of Lees were in the courtroom on Monday morning to show support — but they did not want to speak to the media following the brief court appearance.
Lees was charged in connection with the first murder in Owen Sound in more than five years.
Police were called to a home on 4th Avenue East around 4 PM on Saturday about an injured man.
34 year old Gary Fernando Caribou was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not released any other information about the case — and officers remain at the home with yellow police tape in the frontyard.
Police are not releasing the cause of death and willl not comment on the couple’s relationship.
Neighbours claim the couple lived together and argued a lot.
The OPP and its Criminal Investigation Branch are assisting Owen Sound Police with the investigation.
The last homicide in Owen Sound was in July of 2006, when James Morelli was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison in connection with the death of Larry Hilsden.
