The fall season means coffee break time for the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce.
The Society is currently seeking volunteers to host coffee breaks in their homes, businesses, workplaces, churches and service clubs.
Bill Twaddle — the Community Development Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society Grey Bruce — says this is one of their major annual fundraiser’s.
Twaddle says coffee breaks can be as simple or elaborate as the host chooses — and he’s seen everything from pot luck dinners to a simple donation jar in front of a workplace coffee machine.
He notes they will provide hosts with a kit that contains information about the Alzheimer Society to help raise awareness.
Twaddle tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce offers support programs to 500 area families, so money is always needed.
Last year, 55 thousand dollars was raised through 300 coffee break fundraiser’s in Grey-Bruce — making it one of the most successful programs of its kind in Canada.
Coffee Break registration forms are now being distributed, and the program runs from September 15th through the end of October.
