A lack of youth theatre opportunities for kids in Grey and Bruce spawned a new initiative.
The Roxy Young Company is offering children in Grades 4 through 8 a chance to be involved in theatre year-round.
Program Instructor Stephanie Fowler says the plan is to bring children’s theatre out into the schools and community.
Beginning September 18th and ending in mid-May, Fowler says the group wil meet every Sunday afternoon.
There’s no audition needed, Fowler says it’s first come, first serve.
Kids can perform, create characters, develop scenes as well as work back stage.
Fowler says they can also take part in production — with sound, lighting and set building.
The first play the group will perform goes in early December.
Fowler says the groups second and final big performance goes in May.
