An audit of Brockton’s 2010 finances shows a 23 thousand dollar deficit.
Financial Auditor John Bujold is not overly concerned since the total budget is 13 million dollars.
Bujold says the real focus should be on the financial position of Brockton — and he says it’s very strong.
The financial report shows Brockton has over 50 million dollars in tangible capital assets, a cash position of 3.8 million dollars and over 5 million in reserves.
The municipality also managed to pay down 641 thousand dollars in long term debt.
Overall Bujold says Brockton is in firm financial shape.
His advice to Brockton is focus on the long term — saying it doesn’t want to miss out on future government funding opportunities.
He says the new Recreation Master Plan is a great example of this type of long term planning.
