Fundraising for the Goderich Tornado Relief Fund through the United Way is moving quickly.
Executive Director of the Perth-Huron Branch Ryan Erb says they’ve raised almost 50-thousand dollars since the fund was created days after the tornado struck Goderich.
Erb says their branch in Kitchener-Waterloo allowed them the use of their text-to-donate number for the month of August and people donated thousands of dollars.
He says they don’t have any particular goal in mind for the fund, just to get as much money as people can donate to help Goderich.
Erb says their 211 service has been extremely busy as well over the last two weeks.
As of the beginning of this week, they’d received 1875 total calls along with 705 volunteer registrations.
He says they stay in close contact with the town of Goderich and organizations for any new information to pass on to callers.
