New stats from the Building department at Owen Sound city hall show a slow-down in new construction in July.
There were 42 permits issued in the month, down from 74 a year ago.
At the same time the value of new construction fell to 1.5 million from just over 2 million dollars.
Owen Sound Development Coordinator Sandra Parks says despite the slow-down in July, the month of August looks strong.
The bulk of the new construction started in July was a permit for the new 1.3 million dollar LCBO store in Owen Sound.
So far in 2011, the value of construction in the city is 8.6 million dollars compared with 41.7 million a year ago.
However, 2010 included the permit for the new regional rec centre project, which accounted for most of last years value.
