It’s day two of competition at the 2011 Canadian Plowing Championships in Owen Sound.
There are 18 competitors from across Canada competing in three divisions.
In the Junior Championship Division, Carrie Davenport is taking a run at the title.
The Owen Sound native says she feels good heading into the second day of action, despite the wet and rainy conditions.
Davenport says she doesn’t feel any added pressure from being the hometown favourite, and notes it adds to the excitement.
She says the competition in her division is tough, and she’s hoping for a top 3 finish at the event, which wraps up on Saturday.
This is Davenport’s first time competing in the Canadian Plowing Championships, and she says its been a great experience.
The Canadian Plowing Championship coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Keppel-Sarawak and North Grey Plowman’s Association.
There are also displays at the event, as well as horse plowing and antique demonstrations over the three days.
The plowing championships are being held at the Millman farm across from the hospital and OSCVI — and you can access the property via 6th Street East.
