A bear was spotted in downtown Owen Sound, in the backyard of a home.
Owen Sound Police were called about 8:30 PM on Tuesday by a resident in the area of 5th Street East and 7th Avenue East.
The resident reported a small black bear in the rear yard of their home.
Owen Sound Police attended but were unable to locate the bear.
The Ministry of Natural Resources was advised.
MNR officials say occasionally, black bears have been known to venture into the city through ravine and river corridors.
The bears are usually non-aggressive and will return to wooden non-residential areas.
The Owen Sound Police advise residents not to approach or alarm a bear if spotted.
