Award winning artist/speaker Cheryl-Ann Webster is the creator of the Beautiful Women Project, now on display at the Southampton Art Gallery.
The works were unveiled recently at a Gala Opening.
Webster says the display consists of 120 life-sized hand cast clay sculptures of real women, aged 19 to 91.
She says she hopes visitors will see there is natural beauty in all its varying shapes and sizes.
Webster relates the project came to being after her 13 year old daughter came to her talking about breast implants because she didn’t like her body.
She says she researched the subject further and realized most people didn’t like their reflections.
Webster says she wants to show that there is beauty in all shapes through a woman’s life journey or spirit.
One such person is known as Sara from Kingston, who has two sculptures in the presentation.
Sara is the recipient of a double mastectomy and her sculptures are the before and after in her life.
She says she needed to volunteer for the works so that she could come to terms with herself and be comfortable with who she was and is.
The Beautiful Women Project is on display at the Southampton Art Gallery from now until September 17th.
Admission is free.
The works are suitable for all ages.
The art gallery is open seven days a week.
