Georgian Bluffs is still searching for a new chief administrative officer — and now it must also look for a new Operations Manager.
Rick Winters has tendered his resignation after nearly three years on the job.
He’s returning to the private sector and is in fact going back to his old job, running Porter’s Concrete in Rockford.
Wednesday marked his final council meeting. His last day with the township will be August 26th, and he’ll start again at Porter’s on September 6th.
Winters says he’s proud of what the township has accomplished during his time on staff.
These achievements include water system upgrades, a landfill expansion, the purchase of more equipment for the works department and — perhaps most significantly — the construction of the municipal biodigester.
Roads Supervisor Dave Liverance has been appointed the acting Operations Manager while the municipality searches for a permanent replacement.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says the departure of Winters does not put new importance on the ongoing CAO search.
He says council is confident in the ability of the remaining staff to keep Georgian Bluffs running smoothly.
Clerk Bruce Hoffman has also been acting CAO since Bill White left that position in April.
