With 52 days left before the Ontario election — The Huron-Bruce PC candidate has opened her campaign office.
Lisa Thompson opened her main office at 413 Queen Street in Blyth on Monday night.
Thompson tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she chose the spot because Blyth is in the centre of the riding.
The Teeswater resident tells us at this point in the election she’s fairly confident.
Thompson says she has spent some time canvassing and gets the message that people want change.
She says residents of Huron-Bruce are concerned about the money they’re losing.
Thompson notes extra taxes on heating and hydro have put many families not being able to afford to live.
She says throughout the different areas there are many issues from wind, rural schools and emergency rooms.
Thompson adds the main message from residents is that they can’t afford 4 more years of a Dalton McGuinty government.
Thompson says her goal is to become a champion for Huron-Bruce.
She calls rural Ontario an area left behind.
Thompson tells us she will represent a strong respected voice that can generate action for Huron-Bruce if elected to Queen’s Park on October 6th.
Thompson calls current Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell very dedicated but says the one comment she has been hearing from constituents is the lack of production done up until recently.
She adds the Liberal government are just starting to get to work and it seems like they only are because of an upcoming election.
