Huron-Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell is ready to kickoff the Ontario Election campaign.
Mitchell announced the opening of her campaign office on Huron Road in Goderich on Friday night.
Mitchell calls the PC and NDP governments bad news for Ontario.
She tells us the two parties will set Ontario back to pre-2003 when she first became MPP for the region.
She notes the Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats will cancel all renewable energy’s and the Green Energy Act.
Mitchell says the PC and NDP governments will be in court defending decisions to scrap the 2009 Energy Act.
Mitchell expresses strong concern over the amount of jobs that will be cut.
She says many jobs have been created because of renewable energy and the two opposing parties will blow those jobs up.
As for any concerns over residents against wind and solar energy Mitchell says the perspective of wind energy is changing.
She says it’s time to look at the options and coal isn’t one.
Mitchell tells us she will continue to fight for her farmers.
She believes there is a huge appetite for farmers in the renewable energy sector.
Mitchell says after talking to a wind developer — she realized just how much renewable energy means to local farmers.
She tells us 400 farmers signed up with the wind developer to be a part of cleaner energy.
Mitchell notes it’s another crop for the farmer to harvest.
She tells us when you go up and down the concession roads — there are solar panels on every other farm.
Mitchell calls Ontario’s past 8 years gigantic steps.
She tells us during her tenure the Liberal government has strengthened the economy, provided stronger support for farmers, created clean air with over 200 solar and 180 wind energy projects, as well as installing full day kindergarten.
Her message to the residents in the region is to stand and fight together for Huron-Bruce and the rest of Ontario.
Mitchell’s campaign offices in Port Elgin and Walkerton will be opening in the week leading up to September 8th.
