The chef and owner of Rocky Raccoon Cafe’ in Owen Sound will take part in the “Iron Chef” finals are Harbourfront in Toronto August 13th and 14th.
Robin Pradhan, originally from Nepal, will be bringing locally sourced foods from Grey and Bruce counties to the table and helping to promote the city he and his family now call home.
Pradhan opened the Owen Sound-based Rocky Raccoon Caf in 2008, and now operates a second location at Sauble Beach.
The restaurant owner says he’ll be bringing maps, posters, and information about the Owen Sound area to the competition.
The cook-offs are this Saturday and Sunday, with which each chef asked to prepare a dish using local ingredients, plus one secret ingredient provided by contest organizers.
Pradhan is also working on a pilot TV series, Recipe Rescue, with Rogers TV that will feature traditional foods and recipes used in unique ways.
Owen Sound Tourism is working with Pradhan on several of the episodes, to be shot on location at places like Inglis Falls, the Owen Sound Farmers Market, the Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival at Kelso Beach Park, and possibly the Salmon Spectacular Fishing Derby.
