A dispute between Grey County and the former Director of Transportation and Public Safety is over.
Gary Shaw’s Toronto Lawyer Iris Fischer says the issue went to mediation, and a deal was struck — but she wouldn’t provide Bayshore Broadcasting News with details.
Back in early July, Grey County Council accepted a report on the Transportation and Public Safety Department run by Shaw.
He was a County employee for over 45 years, and was interviewed for a mere 5-10 minutes for the report.
It stated that department employees lived in fear of management.
Shaw has denied the allegations made against him, in the report by Prior and Prior Associates.
He also was upset that CAO Lance Thurston was quoted in the media as saying Shaw left the department on his own terms — when in fact he was terminated without cause on May 16th.
The former department head hired Iris Fischer as his lawyer and the legal action led to the recent mediation settlement.
Terms are not being disclosed and Fischer says Shaw is likely just taking some time off now.
