One person escaped with only minor injuries following a house fire in Allenford.
Grey County OPP Constable Alina Grelik says a 65 year old female resident of a house along Highway 21 was taken to Saugeen Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and was released.
Firefighters, the OPP and Parademics are all on the scene of the fire in the heart of the village.
Constable Grelik says the house was fully engulfed as the Arran Tara, Southampton and South Bruce Peninsula fire departments arrived on the scene around Noon Friday, with thick black smoke pouring out of the two-storey home.
The blaze is now under control and firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the one property and stop it from spreading to neighbouring homes.
The fire departments used water from the nearby Sauble River to fight the flames.
Grelik says there are two people who live in the home — but only one person was at home at the time of the fire.
Damage to the home is substantial, but there is no word on the cause of the fire.
The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Officer has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Highway 21 was closed for several hours at Allenford.
