16 Owen Sound and area residents are off to Uganda for three weeks on a humanitarian mission.
Organized by the Calvary Evangelical Missionary Church — it will involve digging a well for a community, constructing a house, working with children at an AIDS orphanage and distributing much needed food.
Team leader Dian Wood says each of the 16 people going on the mission had to pay 15 hundred dollars to get to Uganda.
The church has raised 34 thousand dollars to cover construction during the mission.
Wood says it is a desperate area of Africa where drought has left the people with little food, and aids is affecting more and more of the population.
The humanitarian relief team left for Uganda on Monday.
Wood says accommodation is pretty basic, in a dormitory and the whole trip will be an eye opening experience for those taking part in it.
