As soon as the Ministry of Natural Resources gives final approval, Sunday hunting will be permitted in Brockton.
The issue was a controversial one for Brockton Council and they asked for public input before voting on the issue.
Council voted 5-1 in favour of lifting the ban — only Mayor Dave Inglis wanted to keep the ban alive.
Inglis says many people want to walk through their forested and bush lands on Sunday and not have to worry about hunters.
Councillor Anne Louise Gibbons doesn’t see this as a problem since hunters require land owner permission before hunting on private property.
She also notes bow hunting is allowed on Sunday’s — along with firearm target practice.
Brockton now becomes the 7th of eight municipalities in Bruce County to allow Sunday hunting.
