An employee at the Owen Sound office of the Ministry of Natural Resources has a big canoe adventure this weekend.
David Cook is going to take part in the Mattawa River Canoe Race on Saturday.
It’s a 64 kilometre race from North Bay to Mattawa.
Cook says he has been collecting pledges to help raise money for Cancer.
Cook tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he decided to make this a fundraiser because one of his friends is now battling cancer.
Cook says like Terry Fox, he’s not raising funds for any specific cancer — he just wants to do something to help fight the battle because he can.
Cook is no stranger to canoe racing — he is a former National champion in Sprint Race Canoe.
