South Bruce Peninsula is getting set to welcome back a physician.
As we first told you last month — Doctor Ken Uffen is returning to the area to begin a family practice with his old colleague Doctor Eric Barker.
Councillor Matt Standen — the Chair of the Physician Recruitment Committee — says Doctor Uffen will begin his practice on September 5th.
Anyone needing a family doctor can sign up beginning today by calling Nancy Angel or staff at 519 534 2411.
Patients interested in signing up can also do so through the offices of Doctor Lothstein and Doctor Barker.
Doctor Uffen is no stranger to South Bruce Peninsula.
Doctor Uffen’s mother and uncle were born in Wiarton, and he first practiced family medicine here from 1978 to 1981.
Since then, he’s moved to Toronto and has worked as the Medical Director of Complex Care at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine.
Upon his return — Doctor Uffen will also work with Doctors Van Dorp, Lothstein, Grewell, Barrett and Grigg.
Doctor Uffen says he’s also passionate about teaching, and hopes to have medical students and residents come learn and work in the Bruce Peninsula.
