For the very first time, Grey County is embarking on creating what officials are calling a road map to guide its policy decisions in the foreseeable future.
The County is developing a corporate strategic plan.
It’s led by Monteith Brown Planning Consultants, who will help identify what the County organization is, what it does, why it does it and what it wants to achieve.
There will be a series of public meetings being held later this month — on July 25th in Thornbury and July 26th in Owen Sound and Durham.
CAO Lance Thurston says they are going to look at a range of services and programs that are important to residents, businesses and visitors.
Grey County provides such a number of services such as long term care, roads maintenance, housing, social assistance, land ambulance, planning, trails and forest management, cultural heritage and tourism promotion.
Thurston hopes they can use this process to learn how they can partner more effectively with others in the delivery of services in our communities.
There will be a series of community workshops later this month — on July 25th in Thornbury and July 26th in Owen Sound and Durham.
Thurston says they will also have household surveys for people who can’t attend one of their meetings.
There will also be open houses in October.
Thurston hopes to present the final report to Grey County Council before the end of the year.
