It appears there are two groups who are interested in re-opening the historic Owen Sound Golf and Country Club.
But Bayshore Broadcasting News has learned one group is considered to be a frontrunner based on ongoing discussions over the weekend.
The group is believed to be based out of Guelph and currently operates Stone Tree Golf and Fitness.
The scenario suggests the group would have to pay off the 1.1 million dollar debt owed to the Bank of Montreal.
Then the group would have to talk to the volunteer board of the 91 year old club about the potential transfer of ownership.
The deal is expected to be finalized today — so the club could re-open to golfers by this time next week.
