Safe ‘n’ Sound is looking to gather more community support.
The homeless initiative in downtown Owen Sound is holding its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday and a new Volunteer Board of Directors will be elected.
The board has been asked to work with Grey County this year to develop a homelessness strategy — something officials say is needed as the number of homeless or those at risk or being homeless continues to rise.
Statistics will be given at the meeting.
The shelter has struggled with financial support and food donations since it opened “The Space” on 8th street east in March of 2009.
Volunteers are still needed to help at The Space, and also to organize fundraisers, and help with the food bank and looking after property.
A financial campaign has also been started, requesting help from the local churches.
Tonight’s AGM begins at 6:30 PM at The Space.
