A compilation of poetry written by high school students in Grey-Bruce will be launched tonight.
‘Spindrift’ is put together every school year by the Bluewater District School Board.
Norah Phillips, a teacher at OSCVI, says it started over 30 years ago, and she feels it’s an important tradition to keep running.
She says poetry writing gives students a way to express themselves, adding with declining enrolment, there have been cutbacks for programs like Writer’s Craft.
Phillips says they also created a website from which students could draw inspiration.
Phillips says she’s very impressed by the variety of poems they had submitted.
Student Sam Blake is one of the published authors.
She says it was a great chance for her to have her work published, and to get to know students from other schools.
The poetry compilation will launch at the Downtown Book Store in Owen Sound at 7 PM on Monday.
