The numbers are in and this years Relay for Life events at St. Marys in Owen Sound and Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton are being hailed huge successes.
Together the two high schools raised just over 31 thousand dollars for cancer research.
Student Trustees Charlotte Curley and Matthew McLean say the numbers speak for themselves.
McLean jokes communities are really going to have to step it up a notch or two to compete with the high school students.
He says this was no small feat noting students were juggling heavy school workloads, upcoming exams and part time jobs.
But like everyone else, he says student too are touched by cancer and want to do their part in the fight for a cure.
In total Sacred Heart High School students raised 17 thousand and St. Marys High School students raised just over 14 thousand dollars.
This was the first year St. Marys students ever participated in the event.
Both events were organized by students and all the monies raised was through the student population.
