The Grey County Children’s Aid Society says it is in urgent need of foster parents and families.
Foster Family Recruiter Lyn Chapel says they currently have double the number of kids needing homes than they have homes to place them in.
Chapel says they need parents who can take care of infants, toddlers, kids and teens.
And she says they even have some teens in the system who are away at school and need a family to come home to during breaks.
Chapel says they need full-time families, as well as respite or relief families.
She says they’re also looking for people who can be on-call as emergency receiving homes, to look after a child until a more permanent residence can be found for them.
Chapel says if you’re interested in helping, you can call the Children’s Aid Society office and you will be screened and a background check will be done.
If chosen, she says there is a 27-hour training session to complete that will help new foster parents be prepared for their experience.
