Over 200 local volunteers are being recognized at a ceremony this evening.
A ceremony is being held in the OSCVI auditorium at 7:30 PM where awards are being handed out.
The Owen Sound Volunteer Service Award ceremony will recognize the volunteers for their selfless contributions and commitment in Owen Sound and surrounding areas.
Recipients from Owen Sound include:
– Margaret Mercer of Markdale, for her 60 years with Grey Bruce Health Services in Markdale.
– Ray Beckberger of Walkerton, for 50 years with the Knights of Columbus.
– June Falls of Meaford, for her 50 years with Rocklyn Womens Institute.
– Edith and Grant Preston of Dundalk, for 50 years with the Agricultural Society , Dundalk District
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Volunteer Service Awards in Ontario, and will honour more than 10 thousand volunteers.
