The Hanover and District Hospital ended its fiscal year with a 254 thousand dollar surplus. (253,644)
BDO Dunwoody Chartered Accountant John Hunt calls the Hospitals numbers quite impressive.
A year end audit confirms the Hospital is in good fiscal shape, with almost two million dollars in cash and 4.6 million in investments for capital purposes.
Hunt says the Hanover and District Hospital is well managed noting the surplus reflects the hard work of staff.
Even though the Hospital ended this fiscal year in the black, Hunt predicts a challenging fiscal year ahead as upper tier governments wrestle with high deficits.
He advises the Hospital Board to be prepared to weather future hardships by planning ahead.
Of the 17.2 million dollar budget, 10.2 million was used to cover the salaries, wages and employee benefits.
