The future is uncertain for the Bluewater school board, after trustees turned down the proposed budget for the coming school year.
Board Chair Marg Gaviller tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, the trustees will meet again next week.
An emergency board meeting has been called for 3:30 PM next Wednesday June 29th in the Board office in Chesley.
Gaviller says the same budget they rejected, will be reviewed.
She hopes staff can answer some questions and concerns of the trustees who voted down the nearly 200 million dollar budget.
The only other hope for a different outcome in the vote, is that one trustee was absent when the document was voted down in a tie vote.
The board chair says if they don’t approve a budget by June 30th, the province could step in….
If Queens Park gets involved, someone could be appointed to take over the running of the Bluewater board, or it could involve cutting funding during the summer months affecting the payroll.
Gaviller says no one on the board was happy with the proposed budget, and the cuts to education it involved.
