Just when you thought the work was done around the 9th Street bridge in Owen Sound, crews are returning today for more construction work this week.
Owen Sound Engineering Manager Chris Webb says some paving has been done between 2nd Avenue East and the bridge, but Bell Canada needs to dig up the north side of 9th Street again.
This time, they’ll be removing old infrastructure that was damaged last year during construction in the area.
He says there will be some lane closures during the work — but 9th Street should remain open .
Webb says once the work is done by Bell, final touches will be done on the road and it should be completed by the end of this week.
Meanwhile, construction is continuing on 10th Street East between 9th Avenue and 16th Avenue East.
That extension of 10th Street out to the Hospital looks like it is done, and Webb says pedestrians are using it already.
However, city council decided not to open up the new section of road until work is done on the major intersection at 10th Street and 9th Avenue East near Tim Horton’s.
That reconstruction work will take until late fall or early winter, so although 10th street near the hospital is virtually finished, it will NOT open until November or December.
