24 weeks of summer is back at Sauble Beach.
The second annual event officially got underway at an open house at the Sauble Beach Community Centre on Thursday night.
Sauble Beach Events Manager Shane Sargent says this year will be bigger and better than last year, thanks in large part to a new 63 thousand dollar grant from Celebrate Ontario.
Sargent notes they are looking to build on the success of last year…when they won Festivals and Events Ontario Award for Best New Event and Best Overall Marketing Campaign.
He says there are some big bands headlining some great concert events this year, including Ian Thornley and Big Wreck at Rock the Beach on July 16th.
Back again this year is the Fretz’s Value Mart SunSet Volleyball festival, set for July 15th to 17th with all proceeds going to the United Way.
Sargent says there are also weekly events taking place such as Tuesday Cruise Nights and Family Movie Night on Wednesday’s.
Then of course there is Sandfest from August 4th to the 7th — the premier event of the summer.
Sandfest activities include the Giggle’s Lobster and Laughs Comedy festival, a concert featuring 54-40, a sandcastle building competition and lots more.
And to extend the tourist season a little further — Sargent adds they have KiteJam taking place September 16th to 18th, featuring kite surfing and great music.
