Last night’s severe storm has left about 20 thousand Hydro One customers in Ontario without power this morning.
Over 10 thousand customers in Grey Bruce had lost power at the height of the storm.
The severe weather rolled through the region last night and knocked down trees and hydro lines.
Hydro One says most people will have power today — but some will have to wait until 5 AM ON Thursday.
The major affected areas in our region are around Saugeen Shores and Kincardine, through Chatsworth and into Dundalk but as far south as Lucknow.
Hydro One spokesperson Danielle Gauvin says it will be some time before everyone has power, because of downed power lines and hydro poles that are snapped.
Highway 21 has been closed between Port Elgin and Underwood for most of the day.
Bayshore Broadcasting News Reporter John Divinski says there are downed power lines and snapped poles for as far as you can see down Highway 21.
Environment Canada has also received reports of tornadoes near Kincardine and Walkerton and Hamilton.
But Meteorologist Geoff Coulsen says it may be Thursday before staff make it to the region because they are also investigating possible tornadoes near Hamilton.
