Downtown Kincardine is doing OK, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement.
So says two studies done for the Business Improvement Area.
One study was from a merchant point of view — the other is from a citizen viewpoint.
Kincardine councillor Jacqueline Faubert presented the results to council recently (JUNE 1) to bring newer councillors up to date on what’s happening in the core area.
Faubert says the BIA is active is preparing to hire a downtown Development Manager.
She says the surveys show the downtown Kincardine area is quaint and the streetscape is wonderful.
There were concerns about the availability of all products in the stores though.
Faubert says people feel safe in the downtown core and there is a community feel for the area.
She says the biggest problem appears to be the empty and dilapidated storefronts.
