Kincardine is in and soon the municipalities of Arran Elderslie and Huron Kinloss are expected to be on board as well.
The three are main players in the potential project to bring natural gas service to the region.
Last week — Kincardine council approved spending just over 16 thousand dollars as their share of the cost in the first two phases of a study to see if the utility can make a go of it in the region.
The cost to Arran Elderslie and Huron Kinloss will be just over 81 hundred dollars each.
Huron Kinloss councillors will be hearing a presentation on what the project could mean to the area tonight.
Arran Elderslie will get the same presentation next Monday.
The cost will cover two phases of the study which will show whether or not there are enough customers that would be willing to sign on to gas service and what the capital costs for a pipeline and distribution system would be.
If both phases turn out favourably, the next step would be a full-blown environmental assessment.
Union Gas says the entire project will cost about 44-million-dollars.
