The Hanover and District Hospital now has its Diagnostic Imaging Department operating on weekends.
The new weekend shift means the department will be able to respond to the needs of the emergency room as well as the inpatient unit on both Saturday and Sunday.
The extended hours will also allow the public to schedule weekend appointments for services such as x-rays.
Vice President of Patient Care Esther Millar says the change in scheduling will enhance their services and save the hospital money.
Millar says it’s more cost effective to offer a weekend shift than to pay on call staff to come in during their weekends.
Millar is confident patients, the public and hospital staff will all appreciate the extended hours and enhanced service.
