Investors Group has handed over their 25 thousand dollar commitment to the Owen Sound Regional Recreation Centre complex.
A cheque was presented to campaign co-chair Sonya Mount and fundraising volunteer Terry Graham at the Investors Group office.
Regional Director Linda Myles-Gallinger says “we were looking for a new, key community project to be involved with after the MRI campaign.”
Myles-Gallinger says it wasnt a difficult decision to support the Regional Recreation Centre.
With this gift the Investors Group joins close to 500 other donors who have supported the campaign.
Construction began a year ago on the 125 thousand square foot recreation centre which is a partnership of the city of Owen Sound, the Family Y and federal, provincial and municipal governments.
The building is over 50 per cent complete and will house two, NHL-sized arenas, a health and fitness centre, a walking/running track and two pools, one competition-sized and the other for leisure and therapy.
