A fundraising cycling event to benefit the new Rec Complex in Owen Sound is scheduled for Sunday.
The event, which will commence at the Wiarton Airport at 8 AM on Sunday, will have 10, 25 and 50 kilometre rides.
Ride Chair Mark Avery says this is the first time they’ve attempted a fundraising ride for the Rec Centre and they hope it evolves into an annual ride & fundraising for the Rec Complex, the Y or other community activities.
Riders are encouraged to gather financial pledges to support the ride and the new Owen Sound Rec Complex
Avery relates the three courses gives riders of every description an option.
The 10 K ride is designed for families or the casual rider, the 25 k ride is longer, but relatively flat and the 50 k takes in the Kemble Mountain region and is designed for the m,ore experienced cyclist.
Avery is enthused about the event and the scenery the ride will take in, noting he often hears from cyclists from outside of the area that Grey Bruce is lucky to have riding areas with so much natural beauty.
