Brockton is partnering with the Bluewater Wood Alliance, and has contributed 35 hundred dollars to the cause.
The Alliance is a new initiative designed to improve the competitive position of the local wood manufacturing industry in the Bluewater area.
Councillor Chris Peabody calls it a wise investment.
There are 59 wood manufacturing related companies in the region, employing 690 people boasting sales of 72 million a year.
Peabody says the wood manufacturing industry has been hit hard over recent years, and now is the time to help rebuild a once vibrant industry.
Peabody hopes the Alliance will be able to make this region more competitive in the global market.
Brockton is one of eight municipal partners in this venture, including Hanover, West Grey, South Bruce, Arran Elderslie, Owen Sound and the Counties of Grey and Bruce.
The municipal partners will be contributing approximately 29 thousand dollars this year.
BWA is asking the member municipalities for total commitment of 58 thousand dollars over the three year period.
