A warning for boaters at Colpoy’s Bay.
Boaters tell Bayshore Broadcasting News there is a sand bar at the entrance to the Bluewater Park Harbour in Wiarton, and it is causing problems and damage.
The sand bar is in the centre of the channel, all the way to the shore to the left as you return into the harbour from the lake.
One boater reports getting stuck on the sand bar — and is concerned because sand and silt can cause expensive damage to boat engines.
They say if you keep to the right when you come around the main dock, you should be okay.
Another concern is that tourists will be upset and won’t return to the area.
South Bruce Peninsula Mayor John Close has been notified of the sandbar and the problems it is causing.
