Local food is the main focus of a series of cooking classes around Grey-Bruce.
The Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association started hosting classes this month in various communities, to highlight the benefits of sourcing local food to cook with.
Spokesperson Janice Mewhinny says the classes fall in line with their mandate of promoting local food.
Mewhinny says the classes have been well-attended so far and the food has been delicious.
She says everybody over the age of eight is welcome to give the classes a try, and it’s not too expensive to learn how to make a new dish.
All of the classes are 15 to 20 dollars and include the food and supplies you will need.
There is even a canning course coming up.
Mewhinny says they also have a course for students who are planning to move away to school for the first time.
The students will be taught how to prepare easy, healthy meals, and they’ll be given a tour of the grocery store to show them how they can best stretch a limited budget.
Registration and more information about the classes can be done by e-mailing cookgreybruce@gmail.com
