A pledge by the province to cut executive costs in all public bodies is not sitting well with the Chair of the Hanover and District Hospital Board.
Allan Fisher feels the announcement is a knee jerk reaction because they don’t feel they will be able to reach their deficit goal reductions.
Fisher fears there won’t be enough ‘fat’ to trim in administrative costs, so that will mean cuts to salaries.
Fisher believes it will create further discrepancies between non union and unionized staff.
Fisher notes these non union administrative employees never received a raise last year and they won’t be receiving one this year.
The Ontario Hospital Association is also consulting with the government to see if there is some way to do away with this plan.
