A celebration is being held on the Bruce Peninsula this weekend, now that two of three land segments have been purchased at “Malcolm Bluff Shores”.
In total, the Bruce Trail Conservancy and Ontario Nature are buying just over one thousand acres of Niagara escarpment land near Cape Croker.
Executive director of the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Beth Kummling tells Bayshore Broadcasting news this is a 2.3 million dollar purchase over three years.
Kummling says they are fighting to preserve the forested area from Mallory Beach road at the edge of Wiarton, to Cape Croker.
A year ago, the first of 3 sections of land was purchased by Ontario Nature, with the second larger segment bought this March by the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
Kummling says the final piece of land will be bought next March.
A sign unveiling and donor recognition ceremony is being held today at 11 AM at the end of Purple Valley Road.
Along with a light lunch, there will be guided walks along the shoreline property by members of the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club.
