Summer usually means construction for drivers, and this year will be no exception.
In fact, some of the construction in Owen Sound is already getting underway.
The latest work is along 10th Street East between 6th and 8th Avenue, which is along the site of the new Regional Rec Centre.
Owen Sound Director of Operations Brad McRoberts says construction will begin next week on that main route thru the Scenic city.
The project will include construction of left-turn lanes for east and westbound traffice at 7th Avenue, and the installation of traffic lights for access to the Rec complex.
McRoberts says they will also be upgrading storm sewers with the work to be completed by July 1st, 2011.
Total value of the work is 360 thousand dollars, and McRoberts says for the most part the street will remain open during the construction.
Meanwhile, two other major road reconstruction projects are also on this summer.
Work has already started on phase 2 of the 9th Street Bridge reconstruction.
McRoberts says that work should be done by the end June.
And, two reconstruction projects will be getting underway mid to late summer on 10th Street East at 9th avenue and 10th Street East at 16th Avenue.
Both involve lane widening and new signal lights.
McRoberts says all the road work means short term pain for long term gain for drivers in Owen Sound.
