The long awaited 7th Avenue and 10th Street intersection project in Hanover is now underway.
The intersection of Grey Roads 4 and 10 is being widened to accommodate turning lanes from the south to both the east and west.
Mayor Kathi Maskell is requesting the public’s patience during the work — which is expected to wrap up by the end of June — in time for summer traffic.
The entire cost of the project is 700 thousand dollars — and will include traffic signal improvements and a storm sewer upgrade.
Grey County Council has approved its expense of almost half a million dollars ($430,382) for the project.
Chief Building Official Don Tedford says the project will clean up a few safety issues since the current lanes do not line up.
Maskell says the project will address the cottage traffic that congest this intersection in the summer months.
The work has been tendered to Wayne Schwartz Construction of Chesley.
