What Huron OPP describe as a potential fireworks disaster was averted on the weekend through the action of an alert witness.
Police say fireworks were set off in the back yard of a home on Victoria Street late last night.
Not long after that, Goderich volunteer firefighters were called by a witness to the same address to deal with flames that started melting the siding on the house.
Police say the home would have been seriously threatened if the fire had burned much longer.
Several young people were seen walking away from the house at the time fire crews arrived and OPP are looking for suspects.
